Job summary

L3Harris MMG Division seeks a Senior Aerodynamics & Aircraft Performance Engineer for the onsite facility in Waco, TX. You will perform aerodynamics analyses and provide ground and flight test support to evaluate the impact of aircraft modifications on performance.

The role requires expert knowledge in Aerodynamics, CFD, and handling qualities, with wind tunnel planning, tool development, and the ability to travel and work various shifts. Security clearance eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; 9+ years experience, or MS +7 years, or 13+ years without degree.
• Minimum 2 years wind tunnel testing experience.
• Minimum 2 years aircraft performance analysis experience.
• Minimum 2 years CFD analyses, mesh generation, and post-processing codes.

Responsibilities

• Perform steady-state and time accurate CFD analyses.
• Planning, support, and execution of Wind Tunnel Tests.
• Planning and support of aerodynamic design optimization studies.
• Lead method and tool development and enhancement activities.
• Manage large, complex project initiatives with minimal oversight.
• Communicate changes to practices, processes and approaches.
• Make significant improvements in processes, systems, or products.
• Provide input into new products/processes and implement operational plans with measurable impact.
• Strong understanding of Applied Aerodynamics theory is required.
• Strong understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics and numerical methods.
• Ability to travel as necessary.
• Willingness and ability to work any shift, weekends, and overtime as required.
• Ability to obtain a US secret security clearance.
