Job summary

University of Maryland Urgent Care, part of the University of Maryland Medical System, seeks an Advanced Practitioner Clinical Lead to supervise APPs, oversee clinical care, and drive quality and safety initiatives across centers.

You will lead onboarding, training, and performance management, partnering with the RMD and CMO to align on clinical excellence and patient experience. Strong leadership and EHR proficiency required.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program approved by the State Board of Licensing.
• Maintains active unrestricted NP or PA medical license in Maryland.
• Minimum one year of clinical experience as an APP: emergency/urgent care, family or internal medicine preferred.
• Current BLS certification.
• DEA license and CDS active.
• Graduation from an approved Limited Scope X-ray Operator program.

Responsibilities

• Supervise APP direct reports, conduct performance reviews and coaching.
• Deliver performance improvement plans with leadership review.
• Lead provider onboarding and training, including EHR competencies and patient experience.
• Ensure timely charting, lab results, workflow management, and X-ray sign‑offs.
• Collaborate with CMO and RMD on quality, safety metrics and new clinical initiatives.
• Lead safety huddles and provider case reviews; participate in leadership meetings.
• Address patient complaints and report deviations from standard of care.
