Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager II to lead the Poway-based Advanced Airframe Project Engineering team within Platform Engineering.

The role directs development of unmanned aircraft airframe structures, oversees program objectives, schedules, and budget, and serves as a technical SME. The position requires a senior engineering background, proven leadership, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams across design, test, and manufacturing,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree in engineering or related field.
• 9+ years of progressively complex engineering experience, including at least 3 years of management experience.
• Demonstrated project management and leadership skills, including scheduling and coordinating workloads.
• Ability to resolve complex management and technical problems.
• Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with all levels of management and external customers.
• Willingness to travel and to obtain/maintain DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the engineering projects from inception through completion.
• Plan and monitor technical performance to meet quality, schedule, and budget objectives.
• Develop design concepts, criteria, and engineering efforts for product research and testing.
• Interact with internal/external stakeholders to resolve issues and coordinate across teams.
• Prepare proposals, budgets, and financial terms for contracts, as needed.
• Provide technical leadership and personnel development within the unit.
• Lead progress reviews on cost, schedule, and technical performance.
• Identify engineering issues and develop solutions, including resource reallocations.
• Protect the unit’s proprietary technology and ensure security and compliance.
