Job summary

Formative 3D in Falls Church, VA seeks an Additive Manufacturing Engineering Manager to lead LFAM/FDM operations, build a high‑performing team, and drive process optimization in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment.

You will own print processes, toolpaths and material flow, guide automation initiatives, plan capacity, and collaborate closely with Engineering, Production and HR to ensure safe, scalable manufacturing and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 7–10+ years of manufacturing experience, with hands-on additive manufacturing (LFAM and/or FDM).
• Expertise in extrusion-based printing, including toolpaths and material handling.
• Experience with large-format systems and automation/IoT in manufacturing.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams in fast-paced environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of LFAM/FDM technicians with focus on safety and continuous improvement.
• Own print processes, optimization, and part quality across manufacturing.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement corrective actions quickly.
• Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on new materials and processes.
