Job summary

Formative 3D in Falls Church, VA seeks a Lead Production Technician to supervise advanced post-processing and finishing of 3D-printed parts, while providing hands-on training to a growing team. You’ll coordinate daily tasks, ensure safety, quality, and efficient workflows in a fast-paced, tooling-driven environment.

This hands-on leadership role focuses on mentoring technicians, refining work instructions, and collaborating with the Post-Processing Manager to keep production moving.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with hand tools and power tools.
• Experience in manufacturing, carpentry, fabrication or assembly preferred.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain quality.
• Willingness to work weekends.
• Able to lift 25–50 pounds and stand up to 8 hours.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced post-processing on 3D-printed parts (drilling, sanding, deburring, finishing).
• Provide hands-on training and guidance on tool use and safety.
• Coordinate daily tasks with the Post-Processing Manager to sustain production flow.
• Review work for quality and conformance to standards.
• Develop and improve work instructions and procedures.
• Troubleshoot issues and propose productivity improvements.
• Support assembly, material handling, and part organization.
• Maintain a clean, safe workplace and proper PPE usage.
• Communicate progress and needs to the Post-Processing Manager.
