This is a leadership-level position designed for a highly skilled practitioner who demonstrates mastery in acupuncture techniques, comprehensive patient assessment, and integrated treatment protocols. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct comprehensive patient consultations, gathering detailed health histories and performing thorough TCM assessments to identify the root causes of physical pain and psychological conditions.
- Synthesize presenting symptoms with constitutional patterns to develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Diagnose a wide range of conditions, including chronic pain, musculoskeletal disorders, hypertension, anxiety, depression, insomnia, and other acute and chronic health concerns.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic techniques, including palpation, tongue and pulse assessment, and functional movement evaluation to inform clinical decisions.
Acupuncture Treatment & Therapeutic Modalities
- Administer precise acupuncture treatments tailored to each patient's specific condition and treatment goals.
- Apply advanced needle techniques, including retention times, manipulation methods, and point selection protocols that reflect current clinical best practices.
- Integrate complementary therapeutic modalities such as moxibustion, cupping, gua sha, and acupressure to optimize treatment outcomes.
- Provide specialized acupuncture massage and myofascial release techniques to reduce discomfort, improve circulation, and enhance tissue healing.
- Maintain treatment records documenting clinical findings, interventions, and patient response to establish continuity of care.
Anatomical Knowledge & Clinical Expertise
- Demonstrate advanced understanding of human anatomy and basic physiology as it relates to acupuncture point location, contraindications, and treatment safety.
- Stay current with emerging research on anatomical variations and their clinical implications for acupuncture practice.
- Apply knowledge of meridian systems, collateral pathways, and organ system relationships to develop sophisticated treatment strategies.
- Ensure all treatments are delivered with appropriate safety protocols, including infection control and adverse event prevention.
Patient Education & Lifestyle Counseling
- Educate patients on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine and how acupuncture works to restore health and balance.
- Counsel patients on the significance of diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, and lifestyle modifications in supporting treatment outcomes and preventing disease.
- Develop personalized lifestyle recommendations that align with each patient's condition, constitution, and capacity for change.
- Provide clear, evidence-informed guidance on herbal supplementation, nutritional support, and complementary wellness practices.
- Empower patients to take active roles in their healing process through patient education and collaborative treatment planning.
Quality Assurance & Professional Development
- Maintain the highest standards of clinical excellence and evidence-based practice across all treatment modalities and patient populations.
- Participate actively in continuing education opportunities, including acupuncture seminars, professional conferences, workshops, and peer consultation.
- Contribute to clinic quality improvement initiatives and help establish or refine best-practice protocols for patient care.
- Mentor junior practitioners and support their professional development.

Required Qualifications
- Licensure & Credentials: Valid state acupuncture license; passing score on the NCCAOM (National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine) examination or equivalent
- Clinical Experience: Minimum 5+ years of full-time clinical acupuncture practice with demonstrated expertise in treating complex and chronic conditions
- Advanced Training: Advanced or Master's level training in Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, or Oriental Medicine from an accredited institution
- Anatomical Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of human anatomy and physiology as applied to acupuncture practice
- Technical Proficiency: Mastery of acupuncture needle insertion techniques, sterile protocol, and advanced therapeutic modalities
- Patient Assessment Skills: Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough diagnostic evaluations, develop individualized treatment plans, and adjust protocols based on patient response
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain complex medical concepts in patient-friendly language
- Professional Development: Commitment to continuing education and staying current with evidence-based practice standards
- Advanced Specialization: Specialized training or certification in a specific area such as sports acupuncture, reproductive health, neurofunctional acupuncture, or pain management
- Research Experience: Experience with clinical research or participation in acupuncture outcome studies
- Additional Certifications: Certification in herbal medicine (NCCAOM Herbalist), functional medicine, or complementary bodywork modalities
