Position Details

Title: Lead Actuary

Location: Hybrid (1-2 days/week on site in Phoenix)

Type: FTE

Salary: $115,000-$145,000 + 10% Bonus

About the Company

This business is a non-profit health insurance company that provides health insurance and related services to over 2 million customers in Arizona.

Key Responsibilities

• Drive advanced analytical initiatives that inform strategic planning, enhance market positioning, and support financial performance across enterprise and departmental levels.
• Work with large datasets using SAS and SQL Server, identifying key insights and data challenges.
• Serve as the lead actuary and second-in-command within the Health Econometrics team.
• Provide guidance through coaching, peer reviews, and mentoring to junior analysts, especially in resolving complex data issues.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners, including other health insurers, to align data strategies and insights.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience as an actuary, with a strong foundation in health actuarial work.
• ASA or FSA designation.
• Based in Arizona or open to relocating.
• Proficient in SAS, SQL Server, and Excel.
• A growth-oriented actuary ready for leadership and increased responsibility.
• Curious and detail-oriented, enjoys working with data and solving complex issues.
• Strong communication skills and collaborative ability.

Preferred Experience

• Familiarity with Tableau or Power BI.
• Experience with Rx-funded or self-funded health plans.
