Qualifications

  • Three years of activity coordination with the elderly.
  • CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain within six months.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly and daily activity schedules for staff and participants.
  • Coordinate outings and field trips.
  • Assist with activity assessments for participants.
  • Maintain inventory of activity supplies.
  • Assist in transportation and safety procedures for participants.
  • Support center marketing needs and special projects.
  • Address caregiver concerns and refer to the Program Director.
  • Provide personal care and daily living activities under nursing supervision.
  • Maintain a safe, organized environment with supplies and equipment.

Salary: $19.00 per hour Catholic Charities of Baltimore, St. Ann Adult Day Care Service is seeking a Lead Activity Assistant (GNA) to lead the planning, coordination, and execution of activities, while monitoring participants for any behavioral changes and addressing their needs. Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop a monthly and day-to-day activities schedule of staff assignments.
  • Develop a daily and monthly activity schedule that lists activity choices for participants.
  • Implement and oversee program activities designed to meet the needs and interests of the individual participants.
  • Coordinate, plan, and assist staff with organizing outings and field trips.
  • Assist in conducting activity assessments with individual participants as requested.
  • Maintain inventory of activity supplies.
  • Encourage participants to participate in various activities, such as arts and crafts, music, etc.
  • Assists the Director with all aspects of the center’s transportation of participants, including but not limited to, accompanying participants to and from vehicles, aiding in getting in/out of vehicles, documenting accidents and incidents as needed.
  • Assists the Director in responding to the center’s marketing needs and with special projects as requested.
  • Addresses caregiver concerns and refers concerns to Program Director.
  • Set up for meals, serve food, and clean dining area after meals. Completes daily meal tally.
  • Provide personal care and instruction in activities of Daily Living under the supervision of nursing staff.
  • Assist nursing staff in monitoring required blood pressures and weights of participants.
  • Assist supervisory staff in providing Program Assistant In-Service Training.
  • Maintain a safe and organized environment by assuring that the facility is in good order including availability of supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure that health and safety problems are reported immediately following established procedures.
  • Assist in maintaining supply inventory following established procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Three years of experience of activity coordination with the elderly.
Certification/Licensure
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification or become certified within six months of employment.
Required Skills & Abilities
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participants care information to assure the protection of clients’ rights.
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including active listening.
  • Excellent relational and customer service skills including the ability to relate and care for a variety of personalities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction or supervision.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients and co-workers.
  • Comfortable in an environment in which patients/clients cannot perform basic life duties.
  • Grasp of basic concepts of personal care, housekeeping, and other care areas.
  • Basic knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as managing Outlook calendar, email, and recordkeeping.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, and OneDrive.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Requires the ability to move freely throughout the building including standing 75% of the time, bending, reaching, lifting, transferring 110-200 lbs. regularly (with assistance); pushing wheelchairs.
