You will maintain the accuracy of financial records through journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close, while ensuring GAAP compliance within the LBM Division Accounting team.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in accounting and at least five years of accounting experience, with strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries for moderate to high-risk accounts.
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and subledger postings.
• Perform financial analysis and P&L variance reviews for key accounts.
• Partner with operations and purchasing to support accurate inventory costing.
• Provide analysis on material, labor, and overhead variances to leadership.
• Support audits and compliance requirements in GAAP framework.
• Collaborate with management to resolve accounting issues and improve processes.

QXO is looking for a Lead Accountant to join our LBM Division Accounting team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records through preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, account analysis, and month-end close activities. This role supports compliance with accounting standards and timely financial reporting.

What you’ll do:

• Prepare and post month-end, quarter-end, and year-end journal entries for moderate to high-risk accounts.
• Prepare and maintain balance sheet and subledger reconciliations.
• Perform financial analysis and P&L flux reviews on key accounts.
• Partner with operations and purchasing to support accurate inventory costing
• Provide analysis on material, labor, and overhead variances to operational and financial leaders.
• Support audits and compliance requirements.
• Partner with management to resolve accounting issues and align internal processes.
• Review of transactions for compliance with GAAP as well as internal accounting policy.
• Ad hoc as assigned.

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience; experience in multi-entity environments strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of accounting theory/GAAP and ability to perform research as necessary.
• Must be detail oriented, have strong analytical skills and be technically minded.
• Ability to meet strict deadlines and prioritize tasks
• Strong research and reconciliation skills required
• Relevant industry experience considered a plus: Manufacturing/Distribution/Construction
• Experience using ADP, BisTrack, Great Plains is a plus
