Job summary

Niowave, Inc. in Lansing, MI, seeks an Accelerator Research & Development Supervisor to lead a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers focused on superconducting electron accelerator systems, design, modeling, and performance characterization.

This hands-on leadership role combines technical depth with people development, coaching six+ staff, managing priorities, and aligning work with Niowave Core Values.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Physics, Accelerator Physics, Nuclear Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related experience
• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in accelerator physics, accelerator development, beam physics, or closely related research and development
• Demonstrated expertise in accelerator physics areas, including beam dynamics and optics, superconducting accelerator systems, RF/microwave systems, beam diagnostics, magnet systems, vacuum systems, or accelerator controls
• Experience with analytical, computational, and experimental methods to design, develop, characterize, or improve accelerator systems
• 3+ years of supervisory experience including day-to-day activities of a team of 6 or more

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and people leadership for accelerator physics activities supporting the design, development, modeling, and performance characterization of Niowave's superconducting electron accelerator systems
• Lead day-to-day work and development of accelerator physics staff while maintaining active technical involvement in accelerator system performance
• Collaborate across Engineering, Accelerator MS&T, and Accelerator Production to advance accelerator capability and support effective transfer of new systems into commissioning and routine operation
• Drive system-level thinking to optimize performance, reliability, and safety in a multidisciplinary setting
