Job summary

University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is recruiting a Lead Academic Advisor to provide leadership and supervision for the Academic Advising Center team in Edinburg, TX. You will manage a student caseload while guiding advising staff, drive program improvements, and analyze data to monitor progress toward degree completion.

The role emphasizes collaboration with colleges, development of advising tools, and delivery of trainings to enhance academic success and retention across multiple locations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in academic advising or related student service in higher education.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership, professional development, and supervision for academic advising staff while maintaining an advising student caseload.
• Teaches students strategies related to academic planning, major selection, and academic success.
• Manages the process of planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for targeted populations.
• Collaborates with colleges and departments to develop advising tools and resources based on up-to-date degree plans and policies.
• Organizes and analyzes data from adopted technologies to monitor student progress toward degree completion.
