Job summary

TechInvents in Maryland is seeking a Senior Data Engineer to lead the design, build, and testing of complex ETL graphs using Ab Initio. You will set technical direction for the data engineering team and collaborate with cross-functional partners.

The role requires deep Ab Initio expertise, strong SQL, Linux scripting, and data warehousing know-how. You will mentor juniors, drive architecture decisions, and ensure scalable data flows from multiple sources into BI systems.

Qualifications

• Experience with ETL design and optimizing data workflows.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and test ETL graphs across the Ab Initio suite (GDE, OSS, Data Quality).
• Create ETL frameworks for audit and data reconciliation across batch and real-time interfaces.
• Optimize performance for high-volume processing and automated loading from multiple sources.
• Map and integrate relational data across DB2, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Greenplum.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and brief stakeholders at the right technical level.
• Maintain technical documentation and lead knowledge-transfer sessions.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and test ETL graphs and applications across the Ab Initio suite — GDE, Co>Operating System, Express>IT, Data Quality Environment, and Continuous Flows
• Design ETL frameworks for audit and data reconciliation across batch and real-time interfaces
• Optimize job performance for high-volume processing and automate loading from multiple sources into BI/MI systems
• Map and integrate relational data across DB2, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Greenplum
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers
• Partner with cross-functional teams on requirements and brief stakeholders at the right technical level
• Maintain technical documentation and lead knowledge-transfer sessions

What we're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
• Deep experience with the Ab Initio tool suite (v4) in Unix/Linux environments, including enterprise-complexity solutions
• Strong SQL, plus mapping and integration across relational databases
• Experience scripting in Linux to automate ETL solutions and data migration jobs
• Experience with data warehousing concepts such as star and snowflake schemas
• Track record leading design and implementation decisions on project work
• Ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust suitability determination
