Job summary

7Th Sky Tech is seeking an experienced Ab Initio Developer to join our data engineering team in a hybrid Palo Alto setting. The ideal candidate will design, develop, test, and support scalable ETL solutions that process large data volumes across multiple systems.

The role requires 5+ years in Ab Initio development, strong SQL and database skills (Oracle, SQL Server, Teradata, DB2, PostgreSQL), and solid ETL/data warehousing know-how. Collaboration with Analysts and QA is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Ab Initio development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Ab Initio GDE, Co Operating System, and components.
• Experience with data integration, data warehousing, and batch processing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Ab Initio ETL applications and data pipelines.
• Develop and optimize Ab Initio graphs, plans, components, and workflows.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading from multiple source systems.
• Develop complex ETL processes using Ab Initio Co Operating System, GDE, and related components.
• Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and database processes.
• Work with relational databases and large-volume datasets.
• Perform data mapping, data validation, reconciliation, and quality checks.
• Analyze performance issues and optimize ETL jobs and Ab Initio graphs.
• Develop reusable components and follow established ETL development standards.
• Schedule and monitor production jobs and troubleshoot failures.
• Participate in unit testing, integration testing, regression testing, and production support.
• Work closely with Business Analysts, Data Engineers, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders.
• Prepare technical documentation for ETL workflows and data processes.
• Support deployment activities across development, QA, and production environments.

• Experience with source-to-target mapping and data transformation.
• Understanding of SDLC, Agile/Scrum methodologies, and software development best practices.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Ab Initio Metadata Hub / EME.
• Experience with Control-M, Autosys, or other scheduling tools.
• Knowledge of Python, Java, or Perl is a plus.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Exposure to modern data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or Hadoop.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools.
• Financial services, healthcare, insurance, or other enterprise data experience is a plus.

Education

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Equivalent professional experience may be considered.
