Job summary

Ford Motor Company seeks an experienced engineer to own 48V powernet control for advanced vehicle architectures. You will develop system-level requirements and test cases to ensure robust low-voltage power supply performance across normal, edge, and corner scenarios.

The role requires 3+ years in automotive system/hardware/software or control engineering, with hands-on experience in ICE/xEV LV power architectures, DFMEA, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Systems, or related field.
  • 3+ years in automotive system, hardware, software, or control engineering.
  • 3+ years with ICE/xEV low-voltage power architectures (BISG, DCDC, AGM/Li-ion, power boxes, load management).
  • 3+ years developing system-level requirements, DFMEA, tests, and validation plans.
  • 3+ years Agile development and DevOps tools like Jira and Github.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and ownership of 48V powernet control strategies for vehicle LV power supply systems.
  • Define and release system-level requirements for operating mode management, power generation, load and energy management, fault handling, and calibration.
  • Develop requirements and test cases for normal, degraded, and corner-case operation.
  • Analyze interactions among power hardware, software controls, and vehicle electrical architecture.
  • Evaluate charge margin, voltage stability, current stability, load behavior, and energy balance.
  • Support system-level simulation and validation activities (SIL, HIL, breadboard, vehicle tests).
  • Lead requirements decomposition, traceability, and DFMEA alignment with safety/diagnostics.
  • Triage issues and drive clear problem statements for sub-systems teams.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, architecture, diagnostics, and validation teams.
  • Support integration of 48V across vehicle platforms with architecture/safety/diagnostics alignment.
  • Lead decision matrices and trade-off assessments; drive solutions.
  • Lead technical documentation, system specs, design reviews, and release readiness.
  • Operate in an Agile environment with Jira, PI planning, sprint planning, risk management.
