Job summary

The University of Maine Cooperative Extension is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated 4-H Youth Development Professional to join our team serving Waldo County youth and communities. This position plays a vital role in strengthening and expanding 4-H programs through youth engagement, volunteer development, community partnerships, and experiential learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent (generally 2-3) years of experience.
• Experience guiding 4-H youth and volunteers in educational settings.
• Excellent communication with youth, volunteers, and stakeholders.
• Volunteer management experience and collaboration with local partners.
• Design, develop, and deliver educational programs for Waldo County youth.
• Strong organizational and logistics planning skills.
• Ability to engage schools and community programs.
• Adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust plans.
• Team-oriented collaboration with Extension staff.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Google Drive.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel; ability to lift 30–50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver educational programs for Waldo County youth.
• Strengthen and expand 4-H programs through youth engagement and partnerships.
• Collaborate with Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center team.
• Recruit, train, and support volunteers and partners.
• Build relationships with schools and community organizations.
