Job summary

Utah State Developmental Center in American Fork, Utah, seeks a Lead Developmentalist to supervise direct care staff and coordinate program plans for clients with intellectual disabilities. The role requires at least one year of ID experience and supervisory tenure.

Shifts include evenings (9:30PM–6:00AM) with in-office on-site work. A criminal history check is required as part of the background process, with emphasis on patient safety and quality care.

Responsibilities

• Managing caseload: processing updates, forms, recordings, progress notes and evaluations.
• Conducting employee evaluations, creating performance plans and approving time biweekly.
• Work with subordinates to manage non-compliant, self-abusive and aggressive individuals.
• Consulting with others on treatment plans, findings and recommendations for client cases.
• Coordinating program activities with private providers and other entities.
• Adapting programs to meet specific needs or concerns.
• Cleaning, sterilizing and disinfecting areas and equipment.

Salary – $22.81 - $36.61 Hourly Wage
Remote Work / In-Office – In-Office / On-Site

Employees in this job supervise Developmentalists including conducting performance evaluations and training of assigned staff on daily living skills and other techniques used when dealing with clients. The Lead Developmentalist coordinates the implementation of individual program plans between direct care staff and provides direct care services to clients with intellectual disabilities at the Utah State Developmental Center (USDC).

Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position:

• Supervising and training the Direct Support Professional's while serving as a resource in the overall delivery of direct patient care

• Managing caseload to include: processing updates, filling out forms and recording activities; progress notes and evaluations

• Conducting employee evaluations, creating performance plans and approving time bi-weekly

• Working with subordinates to manage individuals who are non-compliant, self-abusive, and aggressive (including
  maladaptive behaviors such as kicking, scratching, biting, head butting, spitting, throwing objects, etc.)

• Consulting with others to discuss treatment plans, new or unusual situations, findings, options, and recommendations on client/patient cases

• Coordinating program activities, services, and/or program implementation with private providers, other governmental entities, program users, etc.

• Adapting program(s) to meet specific needs or concerns

• Cleaning, sterilizing and or disinfecting areas and/or equipment

Qualifications

• Experience working with the intellectually disabled for one year or more

• Experience working as a supervisor

• Working knowledge of Echart and Staff Management

• Compassion, reliability and ability to provide excellent care

• Excellent communication skills and positive attitude

Preferred or trainable/on-the-job qualifications:

• Preference may be given to applicants with prior supervisory experience

• Identify developmental needs of others and coach, mentor, or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge, skills and abilities

• Work with or contribute to a work group or team to complete assigned task(s)

• Observe details at close range and at a distance

• Observe physical conditions, behavior or surroundings for potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity

• Hear sounds that may indicate potential areas of concern or inappropriate activity
