Job summary

Onterris is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to support oil and gas operations in Gillette, Wyoming. This role involves performing emission measurements, equipment calibration, and field data collection on 12-hour day shifts.

You will navigate to multiple facilities using maps and GPS, operate detection technologies, and help maintain field equipment under supervision. A technical degree and valid driver's license are preferred; experience in hydrocarbon measurement is a plus.

Qualifications

• Experience in Oil and Gas industry, preference for natural gas facility experience.
• Strong computer skills (Excel and Microsoft Office) and proficiency with Android OS.
• Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts (days only).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or related technical field preferred; hydrocarbon detection/measurement, LDAR, instrumentation or stack emission testing background valued.

Environmental Field Technician position within the Oil and Gas industry. Compensation range is $20 to $24 per hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

• Must be able to work 12‑hour shifts (days only).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or applicable technical degree/diploma preferred; related work experience in hydrocarbon detection and measurement, LDAR, instrumentation or stack emission testing, or a mechanical background also preferred but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Ability to walk and/or stand while handling or carrying various technical equipment for extended periods of time; comfortable occasionally working at heights in a safe manner; ability to lift 50 lbs unassisted; comfortable working outside in all-weather elements; ability to climb ladders and stairs; must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
