Job summary

Gateway Learning Center seeks an Assistant Teacher to support the implementation of an age-appropriate curriculum and assist with daily classroom operations. You will help foster students’ cognitive, social, and emotional growth and maintain positive communication with parents and families.

Role is 10–29 hours per week, non-exempt, in-person at the Gateway Learning Center Campus. Requires 18+, HS diploma, background check, WA Food Handler permit, and First Aid/CPR (Pediatrics).

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must pass a state and federal background check and fingerprinting.
• Must be able to obtain Washington State Food Handler’s Permit.
• Must be able to obtain a First Aid/CPR certificate, including Pediatrics.
• Must meet all Washington State requirements for this position.

Responsibilities

• Creating a safe, loving, and welcoming environment that continually engages children.
• Being a cooperative team member, working alongside and taking direction from your Lead Teacher.
• Actively participating in all activities with the children, including snacks, lunches, and play.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Job Status: Non-exempt, Part-time (10-29 hours/wk), Monday-Friday
• Job Location: In-person, Gateway Learning Center Campus
• Salary Range: $18-$19/hr

Physical Abilities: Working in childcare is mentally and physically demanding, and aspiring applicants should be prepared for the often-rigorous requirements of this position. Additionally, sufficient mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time in a multi-level facility.
