Job summary

Cates Control Systems is hiring a Layout / Staging Technician for our Plano and Wylie locations in Texas. The role involves loading, laying out, and mounting hardware per project drawings, drilling and installing parts, and ensuring paperwork stays with the panel.

The position requires reading wiring schematics and handling up to 75 lbs, with a focus on accuracy and efficiency. Two shifts are offered with overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years prior experience preferred.
• This position requires bending and standing.
• Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds at any time.
• Ability to read wiring schematics.
• UL508A and NEC experience preferred.
• Good project and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Login to the appropriate software database based on the project number as shown on the drawings.
• Check out all hardware from the parts staging area.
• Layout all hardware and materials according to the drawings provided.
• Drill and install all parts onto the back panel.
• Make sure all empty boxes are kept until the job ships.
• Make sure all paperwork for each part is kept with the panel.
• Cut/Hole-punch enclosures according to the provided drawings.
• Install all required hardware on the enclosure.
• Locate and designate any hardware that needs to be “loose shipped” with project.
• Return any unused hardware for the back pan or enclosure.
• Complete the layout check sheet supplied with drawings.

The Role

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Work Location: We are hiring for both Plano and Wylie locations.

Schedule

• Shop is open Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.


• We have two shifts you can choose to work; they are below:
  5:00 am – 3:30 pm
  6:00 am – 4:30 pm.


• Weekend availability: Saturdays from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (expected to work one Saturday each month).


• Overtime pay available for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.
