Job summary

Cates Control Systems in Plano, TX is hiring a Layout / Staging Technician. You will layout hardware per drawings, drill and install parts on back panels, and keep all paperwork with the panel. Work shifts include two options, with potential overtime.

Requirements: high school diploma or GED, about 2 years of experience, ability to lift 75 pounds, read wiring diagrams, and experience with UL508A/NEC. This is a hands-on role demanding good time management and physical stamina.

The Role

• Login to the appropriate software database based on the project number as shown on the drawings.
• Check out all hardware from the parts staging area.
• Layout all hardware and materials according to the drawings provided.
• Drill and install all parts onto the back panel.
• Make sure all empty boxes are kept until the job ships.
• Make sure all paperwork for each part is kept with the panel.
• Cut/Hole-punch enclosures according to the provided drawings.
• Install all required hardware on the enclosure.
• Locate and designate any hardware that needs to be “loose shipped” with project.
• Return any unused hardware for the back pan or enclosure.
• Complete the layout check sheet supplied with drawings.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• 2 years prior experience preferred
• This position requires a significant amount of bending and standing
• Must be able to lift at least 75 pounds at any time
• Ability to read wiring schematic
• UL508A and NEC experience
• Good project and time management skills

Salary: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour

Schedule:

• Shop is open Monday through Friday, 6:00 am – 6:00 pm.
• We have two shifts you can choose to work; they are below:
  5:00 am – 3:30 pm
  6:00 am – 4:30 pm.
• Weekend availability: Saturdays from 6:00 am – 2:00 pm (expected to work one Saturday each month).
• Overtime pay available for hours worked beyond 40 hours in a week.

Experience:

• Layout Technician: 2 years (Preferred)
