Job summary

Vanderbilt Law School seeks a Chief Business Officer to lead financial and business operations, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. You will guide capital planning, donor-restricted funds, and grant administration while advising the Dean and senior administrators.

The role requires strong leadership, collaboration across university offices, and a strategic approach to financial stewardship. The position reports to senior finance leaders and Dean, with responsibility for a finance/operations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or related field.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Experience in strategic finance and higher education context.
• Experience with sponsored project administration and grant lifecycle.
• Strong analytical, budgeting, and financial management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee financial planning including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Lead capital planning and budgeting; monitor expenditures.
• Ensure governance of gifts, endowments, and donor restrictions.
• Manage contract and grant administration and compliance.
• Oversee procurement, expenses, and personnel transactions.
• Supervise finance and administrative team and coach staff.
• Collaborate with Development, General Counsel, IT, and Provost offices.
