Job summary

University of Minnesota Law School in Minneapolis seeks an experienced Law School Admissions Assistant Director to support counseling, applications review, and program coordination.

You will work with the Director of Admissions and Admissions Office team, helping enhance recruitment materials and outreach to prospective students. The role requires a strong background in higher education admissions, superb communication, and the ability to manage multiple programs including Pre-Law initiatives.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree plus two years of relevant experience.
• Experience working in higher education admissions or student services, preferably with graduate or professional students.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Google applications; ability to quickly learn new technology and systems.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Proven ability to take initiative to solve problems independently and proactively.
• Ability to travel in and out of state is required (typically in the fall).
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Counsel prospective students through familiarity with the admissions and financial aid process in person or virtually.
• Highlight strengths of the Law School to prospective students.
• Provide timely responses to questions from prospective students.
• Maintain high energy and enthusiasm for the Law School and admissions process.
• Coordinate with Admissions Team and other offices for consistent responses.
• Evaluate at least 750 applications per year and make admission recommendations with the team.
• Oversee the Pre-Law mentor program and training of student ambassadors as mentors.
• Manage the Minnesota Pre-Law Scholars LSAT prep program for ~30 students.
• Engage with and counsel UMN undergraduates in the Law minor.
• Outreach to Pre-Law advisors to raise awareness and meet groups in person/virtually.
• Research topics related to the admissions process and applicants as directed.
• Connect with admitted applicants to faculty, staff, alumni and students as needed.
• Edit and provide content for multimedia recruiting tools and the admitted student website.
