The County of Riverside’s Child Support Services Department has an opportunity for a Law Office Supervisor I position assigned to the Indio location.
The Law Office Supervisor I oversees the day-to-day operations of the Legal Division support staff, including Legal Support Assistants, Office Assistants, and Child Support Investigators. This position directs the processing, filing, and return of high-volume court documents while ensuring work is completed accurately and in a timely.
The Law Office Supervisor I works closely with the Administrative Services Supervisor, Supervising Attorneys, and other Law Office Supervisors to identify opportunities for improvement and implement changes to processes and procedures. The position also participates in preparing monthly Legal Division reports and attends Legal Division, department supervisor, and court-related meetings, as well as trainings, retreats, and professional development activities.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage competing priorities, constant deadlines, and last-minute changes while remaining calm and professional. Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are essential.
Preferred candidates will have strong proficiency with Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro, with familiarity with PowerPoint. Experience working for a local child support agency or in family law is highly desirable.
The County of Riverside Department of Child Support Services works with parents and guardians to ensure children and families receive court-ordered financial and medical support. Services provided include locating and establishing paternity; establishing, modifying, and enforcing a court order for child support; and establishing, modifying, and enforcing an order for health coverage. Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical experience in a legal office or criminal justice agency, which included two years of supervisory responsibility.
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible clerical experience in a legal office or criminal justice agency which included one year as a County of Riverside Senior Legal Support Assistant with lead and/or supervisory experience.
Knowledge of: The principles of supervision, training, motivation and organization; office layout and management principles and techniques; legal procedures, legal terminology, procedures and practices of local, state, and federal courts; legal formats including briefs, motions, opinions, resolutions, and subpoenas; modern office equipment, machines, and supplies which includes computer hardware and software; proper telephone procedure; recordkeeping systems.
Ability to: Plan, organize and coordinate the complex clerical functions of a public law office; supervise the work of others; prepare a variety of legal documents; analyze situations accurately and take effective measures; understand, interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations and to use proper judgment in their application; secure and maintain effective and cooperative relationships with others; prepare correspondence, reports and directives.
