Research Specialist

We’re seeking a detail-oriented Research Specialist to support attorneys, paralegals, and staff with a wide range of legal and non-legal research needs. Reporting to the Manager of Research Services, this role involves conducting high-level research across various topics including corporate, litigation, regulatory, and financial matters using both online and print resources. The ideal candidate is tech-savvy, collaborative, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct SEC research, retrieve filings, and analyze precedent agreements
• Perform corporate and litigation research, including company/individual background, governance issues, dockets, and case law
• Handle non-legal research requests (e.g., legislative, financial, statistical data)
• Monitor news, filings, and docket updates through custom alerts
• Support internal publications, seminars, and client presentations with relevant data
• Evaluate research tools and recommend new resources
• Supervise requests made through external research vendors to ensure quality and confidentiality
• Help train new associates and paralegals on research tools and processes
• Take on additional projects to enhance research services across the firm

Skills & Qualifications:

• Advanced knowledge of databases like Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, Capital IQ, Pacer, and others
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other internal firm systems (e.g., Outlook, SharePoint, Excel)
• Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Able to prioritize, multitask, and manage deadlines independently and collaboratively
• Comfortable interacting with individuals at all levels of the firm and with clients

Education & Experience:

• Master’s in Library Science required; JD is a plus
• At least three years of research experience in a large law firm or financial services setting
