Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Clement J Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, seeks a Training Manager and Primary Firearms Armorer for the Police Service.

This role designs, delivers, and oversees police training programs and maintains weapon maintenance standards. You will manage Field Training and Evaluation, coordinate with VA Central Office and external partners, conduct Use of Force reviews, and ensure compliance with federal and VA safety requirements.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience in planning, delivering or evaluating law enforcement training.
• Experience conducting field training for police officers and preparing training reports.
• Knowledge of firearms, use of force, and active threat response.
• Ability to de-escalate mental health crises with clinical partners.
• Experience inspecting facilities and equipment for physical security vulnerabilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Training Manager and primary Firearms Armorer for Police Service.
• Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for instructors.
• Maintain training records and track required certifications.
• Oversee Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP).
• Coordinate training with VA Central Office and partners.
• Conduct Use of Force reviews and investigations.
• Prepare and monitor training budget and equipment needs.
• Respond to mental health crises using de-escalation techniques.
• Ensure compliance with laws and safety requirements.
