Job summary

The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for a trainee deputy program. Trainees will attend the P.O.S.T. Academy to qualify for the class of Sheriff’s Deputy, while performing other duties as required in a non-sworn capacity.

This is a trainee-level class with potential promotion to Sheriff’s Deputy upon successful completion and Sheriff’s recommendation. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a valid California driver license, be at least 20 years

Qualifications

• Must graduate high school or have a GED.
• Valid California Driver License required at appointment.
• Minimum age 20 at application; 21 at appointment.
• No felony convictions within specified limits; thorough background check.
