Job summary

County of Santa Clara is recruiting a Deputy Sheriff Cadet to attend the Law Enforcement Academy and gain the academic, technical, and physical skills to serve the community. Cadets train under supervision and may perform early law enforcement duties as they progress toward becoming Deputy Sheriffs.

The program requires passing a physical agility test, submission of a written exam score, and completion of a full background check, medical exam, and interview as part of the selection process.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; college units preferred.
• Ability to pass medical, background, and fitness standards.
• Submit written examination score as part of the application.

Responsibilities

• Attend Academy training classes for law enforcement.
• Participate in basic training with academic and physical conditioning.
• Engage in hands-on training including firearms, defensive tactics, and patrol procedures.
• Complete background investigation and medical examinations as required.
