Job summary

The Placer County Sheriff's Office is seeking applicants for the Sheriff's Cadet program. This mentorship pathway trains individuals to perform non-sworn duties and prepares them for entry‑level positions such as Deputy Sheriff Trainee.

Cadets will work with the Sheriff's Office Youth and Community Services Unit to serve the Placer County community while growing skills and experience. Cadets will be asked to work up to 28 hours over a 7‑day period, with a flexible schedule between 0630‑2200,

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old at the time of appointment.
• Pass an extensive background investigation as part of the screening.
• Flexibility to work up to 28 hours per week on a variable schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist Youth and Community Services Unit with routine non-sworn duties.
• Support community outreach and program activities alongside Sheriff's Office staff.
• Prepare for entry‑level law enforcement positions, such as Deputy Sheriff Trainee.
