Qualifications

• Second-year law student required.
• Interest in contracts and regulatory law.
• Strong legal research, writing, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Willingness to commute to West Trenton, NJ office.
• Experience on law review or law journal preferred.
• Writing sample demonstrating legal research and writing skills.
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Work with Contract Management to review contracts (SOWs, NDAs, and other business agreements) under attorney guidance.
• Conduct Compliance-related research projects from checklist reviews and business unit inquiries.
• Assist with select Legal Referral assignments to gain exposure to insurance-related questions.
• Support the Complaint team on reviewing Department of Insurance responses.
• Participate in compliance auditing to understand insurance laws applying to operations.
• Contribute to legal operations tasks including corporate requirements and matters.

NJM Insurance has a Legal Intern (summer) opportunity available with our Law & Regulation team. Located at our West Trenton, NJ headquarters, this position offers a second year law student the opportunity to strengthen their legal research, analysis, and writing skills while gaining hands‑on experience working alongside our knowledgeable in‑house legal team. The Legal Intern will gain practicable experience by contributing to meaningful assignments and projects. This structured internship will provide challenging work opportunities, exposure to NJM’s business operations and legal department, and professional networking experiences.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside Contract Management, reviewing various contracts, including statements of work (SOWs), non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), and other pertinent business agreements with guidance from NJM legal team.
• Conduct Compliance-related research projects, including issues that arise from compliance checklist reviews and other questions submitted from Business Units.
• Assist with select Legal Referral assignments to experience an increased variety of legal and insurance related questions.
• Support the Complaint team on reviewing Department of Insurance complaint responses.
• Participate in compliance auditing assignments to gain an understanding of how insurance laws/regulation apply to company operations.
• Contribute to a variety of legal operation assignments including research on corporate requirements, and corporate legal matters.

The Legal intern can pay $21-$25 hour. Starting Rate: $21
