Job summary

Josephson Dunlap, LLP in Houston, TX, seeks motivated law students for a hands-on law clerk role, working directly with attorneys on complex wage and hour matters. Qualifications

  • Completed at least one year of law school (2Ls and 3Ls preferred; exceptional 1Ls will also be considered).
  • Strong academic performance.

  • Outstanding attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced litigation environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fundamental research on federal and state employment laws and procedures.
  • Draft memoranda, research summaries, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.
  • Review client files, pleadings, discovery, and supporting evidence to become familiar with cases.
  • Assist attorneys with case strategy by analyzing legal authority and issues.
  • Review local court rules, standing orders, and judges' procedures.
  • Assist with discovery, document review, and trial preparation.
  • Prepare legal analyses and briefing on contested issues.
  • Proofread and cite-check filings for accuracy and compliance.
  • Attend strategy meetings and collaborate with litigation teams.

What You'll Do
  • Conducting legal research on federal and state employment laws, procedural issues, and emerging legal developments
  • Drafting legal memoranda, research summaries, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
  • Reviewing client files, intake materials, pleadings, discovery, and supporting evidence to become familiar with assigned cases
  • Assisting attorneys with case strategy by identifying relevant legal authority and analyzing complex legal issues
  • Reviewing local court rules, standing orders, and individual judges' procedures
  • Assisting with discovery, document review, and trial preparation
  • Helping prepare legal analyses, position statements, and briefing on contested legal issues
  • Proofreading and cite-checking legal filings to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Attending attorney strategy meetings and collaborating with litigation teams on active cases
Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive hourly compensation: $20-$23 per hour, based on experience and academic standing
