Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Law Clerk I to support a large federal agency’s legal mission. You will perform research, cite checking, document review and draft preparation, assisting attorneys across all phases of litigation.

Qualifications include a JD or current ABA‑accredited law student status, strong familiarity with federal/state courts, and expertise with Westlaw/Lexis and Bluebook formatting. This role offers growth and a collaborative government‑focused team.

Qualifications

Requires JD or current enrollment in ABA‑accredited law school, with at least one year of study completed.
Strong working knowledge of federal and state court systems and legal research procedures.
Extensive experience with legal research tools (LEXIS, Westlaw) and cite checking.

Responsibilities

Perform complex legal research for trial staff and support litigation tasks.
Cite check via online legal research tools and Bluebook formatting.
Assist in preparing draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda).
Review information requests and perform ROI research; review new cases and relevant laws.
Edit and review cases for issuance and respond to citizen letters.
Support attorneys through all phases of litigation.
