A consulting firm supporting federal agencies is seeking a Law Clerk 1 for an onsite role in Washington D.C. The ideal candidate will have a law degree or equivalent training and be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Key responsibilities include performing legal research, assisting with litigation tasks, and preparing legal documents. Qualifications

Job description

100% Onsite Monday-Friday in Washington DC

We are currently seeking a Law Clerk 1 to support a leading federal agency in Washington D.C.

Required: Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a Public Trust clearance.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Works under the direction of a Supervisory Paralegal or a Project Supervisor.
  • Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
  • Assists in preparing draft legal documents, such as motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc., reviewing documents for relevance and privilege.
  • Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
  • Prepare Table of Contents and Table of Authorities.
  • Cite checking using Bluebook.
Qualifications
  • Requires a Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study or six (6) years of legal training or experience may be substituted.
  • Requires a sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Must have hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Role also requires hands‑on familiarity with Client tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
  • Ability to consistently deliver the highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and experience with Bluebook citations is strongly preferred.
  • Preparation of Table of Contents and Table of Authorities and cite checking.
  • Familiarity with the Microsoft suite, including Excel and Word, as well as Adobe Acrobat is essential.
  • Experience with Relativity, valued.
  • Strong analytic, organizational, and writing skills are preferred.
  • Trial experience helpful.
  • Active Public Trust Clearance preferred.
