Job description

Summary:

Laundry Worker sorts, launders, folds, and stores all linen from accommodations, dining venues, and events on the Basin Harbor property.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Sorts and weighs soiled linen brought to the laundry for processing.
  • Loads articles into washer/extractors dryers as needed and starts the appropriate cycles; loads or unloads washer or dryer into carts when finished for further processing.
  • Feeds clean linen into the mangle final processing and manually folds what cannot be folded mechanically.
  • Inspects processed linen for quality.
  • Sorts clean linen and places into carts for transport to the storage area or housekeeping workstations.
  • Handles linen rejected at post-processing inspection due to inferior quality, using appropriate departmental procedures; prepares product for specialized treatment and rewash.
  • Washes, dries, and hand presses special laundry loads, as needed.
  • Mends torn articles in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Performs designated cleaning and preventative maintenance on all laundry equipment; reports any and all problems with the machines to the head laundry worker.
  • Assists with keeping the laundry and linen storage areas clean at all times.
  • Attends periodic staff meetings.
  • Performs pre- and post-season work as directed.

Essential Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Basic education
  • Job related experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication.
  • Critical evaluation skills and a commitment to ethical practice and legal compliance.
  • Attention to detail and strong work ethic
  • Ability to use, or learn to use commercial laundry equipment
  • Ability to perform heavy work and lift 50 plus pounds regularly
  • Must be able to adapt to changes in a fast paced, dynamic, and sometimes intense work environment
  • Ability to work up to 10+ long hours which may involve prolonged sitting, standing and walking.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 25lbs, reach overhead and perform repetitive motion.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a background check.
