Job summary

Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in San Diego seeks a Laundry Supervisor to ensure cleanliness, service, and product quality in the laundry department, and to build and supervise teams.

You will train staff, monitor production levels and turnaround times, manage supplies and equipment, and coordinate with housekeeping to meet guest expectations, including AM, PM, weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• One to two years of increasingly responsible laundry experience in a hotel environment.
• Prior supervisory experience desirable.
• Requires ability to lead others in the department by mentoring and providing training.
• Strong communication and guest service mindset.

THE JOB:

As a Laundry Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, service, and product quality standards of laundry facilities are met, and goals for the laundry department are achieved. Builds and supervises teams effectively. Trains and coaches laundry staff in specific laundry job tasks and in completion of daily production. Monitors production levels and turnaround time and reports on a daily basis. Maintains sufficient inventory of supplies and equipment and orders as needed. Participates in weekly/monthly inventories.

Requirements

• Prior hotel or laundry experience is desirable.
• One to two years of increasingly responsible laundry experience in a hotel environment is required.
• Prior supervisory experience desired.
• Requires ability to lead others in the department by mentoring and providing training that results in staff that meets/exceeds guest expectations and provides a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Monitors Laundry systems and equipment maintenance, resulting in optimum department performance.
• Ensures laundry is completed as scheduled and linen inventory is restocked to meet demand.
• Ensures the laundry area is kept clean and equipment is maintained.
• Notifies manager of needed equipment maintenance or problems.
• Supplements team's efforts by assisting with the housekeeping department services as needed.
• Requires ability to serve needs of guests through verbal face-to-face interactions. Contacts sometimes contain confidential/sensitive information, so requires ability to use discretion.
• Must demonstrate positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction.
• Requires ability to learn and use computer systems used at the hotel.
• Ability to work on AM, PM, weekend, and holiday shifts as required by operational needs
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to move/lift/push/pull moderate amounts of weight.
