This position reports to the Electric shop within the Maintenance Division of the Facilities Management service line at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System with a physical assignment to the Laundry/Textile care facility. The laundry facility processes an average of 50k pounds of laundry per week or approximately 2.5 million pounds annually.

Key Responsibilities

Major duties listed but not limited to: Program, adjust, troubleshoot and perform scheduled and unscheduled service of the complex laundry equipment to include microcomputer and microprocessor controlled laundry equipment Perform corrective and preventative maintenance on belts, shackles, pulleys, shafts, gear and gear boxes, bearings, pumps, drives, motors, and/or transmissions Identify which sub-system is the root cause of the failure and repair to manufacturer standards Work on the complex systems and sub-systems in the Textile Care Processing Facility Perform diagnostics, disassembly, fabrication and replacement of some stationary parts, replacement of components, reassembly, and programing of the system Ability to select gauges and type of conductors, relays, wiring harnesses, motors, etc.
