Job summary

Driftwood Hospitality Management in Miami is seeking a Laundry Attendant to assure efficient retrieval, processing, and distribution of laundry to provide laundry services to our guests. The Hotel operates 24/7, requiring flexibility in shift days and hours.

The role involves sorting, ironing, folding, inventory, and ensuring cleanliness and safety, with adherence to OSHA regulations and company policies. No prior experience is required for this position.

Responsibilities

• Sort stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard; maintain inventory of discarded items.
• Operate ironing and folder machines according to specifications.
• Fold cleaned articles and stack by type and size; place in distribution areas.
• Remove lint/debris from dryer filters; follow departmental procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
• Check working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery.
• Monitor chemical and water usage to maximize efficiency.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas during shift.
• Restock work areas for next shift.
• Turn in lost and found items and guest room keys.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures; follow safety rules.
• Know department fire prevention and emergency procedures; use protective equipment.
• Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or losses to management.
• Provide a safe work environment following procedures; maintain neat appearance.
• Perform related duties as requested and assist other housekeeping staff.

Essential Job Functions

The Hotel operates 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, so operational demands require variations in shift days, starting times, and hours worked in a week.

• Sort all stained/damaged items and determine status for rewash or discard; maintain continuous inventory of discarded items.
• Operate the ironing and folder machines according to specifications, while processing cleaned articles through the machines.
• Fold cleaned articles and stack into designated amounts by type and size. Place stacks in specified areas of distribution.
• Remove lint and debris from dryer filters as specified in departmental procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals according to OSHA regulations and hotel requirements.
• Check the working condition and cleanliness of laundry machinery.
• Monitor usage of chemicals and water to maximize consumption.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas throughout shift.
• Restock work areas for next shift as assigned.
• Turns in all lost and found items and all guest room keys.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Follows safety and security procedures and rules.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to Lift, Push & Pull up to (50) pounds required.
• Frequent bending while loading/unloading washers/dryers, sorting linen and folding.
• Continuous movement throughout department.
• Standing is required during the entire shift.
• Frequent twisting, bending, stooping, reaching, standing, walking, talking, hearing, seeing and smiling.
