Job summary

Double Tree Bloomington Minneapolis South is seeking a Laundry Attendant to handle all laundry duties and maintain cleanliness in the laundry and housekeeping areas. The role requires operating laundry equipment safely, sorting and processing linens, and upholding health standards for hotel guest linens and banquet events.

This full-time, on-site position reports to the Housekeeping Supervisor and offers benefits typical of hotel staffing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general laundry duties (i.e. pick up linens from chute, sort, weigh, wash, dry, iron, fold, and place all laundry on assigned shelves or carts).
  • Perform laundry cleaning tasks and stain removal on laundry as needed using approved cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment in accordance with safety requirements and standards.
  • Clean laundry in accordance with established quality and performance standards to allow a sufficient quantity of linens, pillowcases, towels, washcloths, napkins for hotel guest rooms and banquet events.
  • Assist coworkers in maintaining clean and organized workspaces in all assigned laundry and housekeeping areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the entire work area according to the standards set by the hotel and brand standards.

JOB SUMMARY
  • Perform general laundry duties (i.e. pick up linens from chute, sort, weigh, wash, dry, iron, fold, and place all laundry on assigned shelves or carts).
  • Perform laundry cleaning tasks and stain removal on laundry as needed using approved cleaning products to adhere to health standards.
  • Safely and efficiently operate equipment in accordance with safety requirements and standards.
  • Clean laundry in accordance with established quality and performance standards to allow a sufficient quantity of linens, pillowcases, towels, washcloths, napkins for hotel guest rooms and banquet events.
  • Assist coworkers in maintaining clean and organized workspaces in all assigned laundry and housekeeping areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization throughout the entire work area according to the standards set by the hotel and brand standards.
  • Ensure assigned workspaces and laundry area is clean when finished.
  • Ensure laundry area is clean, stocked, and organized when finished.
  • Clean and restock laundry spaces, supply, and storage areas according to established standards.
  • Organize linens and maintain appropriately-stocked laundry carts and shelves for assigned floors or as assigned by manager.
  • Notify Department Supervisor or Director of any laundry department and cleaning supply needs to ensure adequate supplies are consistently and readily available.
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable about the laundry department and hotel.
  • Maintain knowledge of all areas of the laundry departments.
  • Communicates respectfully and professionally with hotel management, supervisors, coworkers, and other employees.
  • Must be able to work well with all other members of the Hotel staff.
  • Must promote a cordial and caring attitude toward all other employees, suppliers, vendors, and third-parties.
  • Maintain, at all times, a neat and clean professional appearance.
  • Highly motivated self starter.
  • Complete accurately, and in a timely manner, any assigned paperwork.
  • Responsible for being knowledgeable about the hotel.
  • Must perform other duties or projects as assigned, such as cleaning unexpected spills and executing special requests.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures like laundry rooms (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more.
  • Must be able to exert a fast-paced ability to reach all assigned areas and workspaces in a timely basis.
  • Must be able to exert a fast-paced ability to complete tasks and maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously and in narrow or limited spaces.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill laundry, cleaning, and other relevant tasks.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis, including linens, towels, napkins, cleaning supplies, and other products.
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near and color vision and depth perception.
  • Must have finger dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment and technology.
Requirements
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Must report to work on time
  • Must be present and able to work all shifts on-site
  • Must be able to work the necessary hours and schedule to meet the operational needs of the business
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be currently eligible to work in the United States of America and able to present required work authorization documents as required to complete the Form I-9 on the first day of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel.

AVAILABILITY

Double Tree Bloomington Minneapolis South operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day. At times it may be necessary to move you from your accustomed work day, to include Holidays, or time of work if business or task assignments demand. In addition, it should be understood that business needs determine the amount of hours per week that you will work and that hours may fluctuate each week based on the needs of a 24/7 operation, including days, nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays.
