Rochester Regional Health's DeMay facility in Newark, NY is seeking a Part-Time Laundry Assistant for the Day/Evening shift. You will sort, wash, dry, fold linens and residents’ clothing, operate laundry machines, and deliver items while maintaining a clean, orderly laundry area.

Ideal candidates have prior laundry experience, can follow verbal and written instructions, deliver courteous customer service, and pay close attention to detail while observing infection control guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Spot treat, wash, dry, press, fold, sort, and store laundry and linens.
• Load and unload dryers, fold clean linen, and clean laundry baskets.
• Inspect laundered items to ensure cleanliness and serviceability.
• Ensure all clothing is properly tagged and delicate fabrics and colored items are handled appropriately.
• Maintain proper chemical levels in washing machines and clean washer filters and dryer lint traps.
• Follow infection control principles, COVID-19 procedures as applicable, and all safety and regulatory guidelines.
• Maintain a clean, orderly laundry room and properly store cleaning compounds and hazardous substances.
• Provide excellent customer service by responding to patient requests and addressing concerns promptly.

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening; Tue., Wed., Sat.; 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM

SUMMARY

The Laundry Assistant sorts clean and dirty linens and residents’ personal clothing. Operates machines, sorts and folds clean laundry, and delivers laundry to residents. Ensures that working area and equipment are clean and orderly.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.

PAY RANGE: $17.25 - $20.00
