Job summary

Responsibilities

• Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathrooms and common areas daily while respecting resident privacy.
• Keep utility and storage rooms clean and orderly.
• Sweeps and cleans rugs, carpets, upholstery and draperies.
• Post signs indicating safety hazards during housekeeping activities.
• Dust furniture, handrails and equipment.
• Washes windows, door panels and sills.
• Empties wastebaskets and transports to disposal area.
• Uses personal protective equipment when exposure risks arise.
• Follows safety instructions and handles chemicals per MSDS.
• Monitors and reports pests and safety issues to supervisor.
• Secures housekeeping supplies safely.
• Washes and folds resident laundry and linens.
• Operates laundry equipment per manufacturer instructions.
• Hangs, bags, folds, and bundles laundry for delivery to residents.
• Maintains separation between soiled and clean laundry.

Job description

Housekeeping provides cleaning service for a safe, sanitary, comfortable and homelike environment for residents, staff and the public. Laundry service provides pickup, transport and laundering personal clothing and bed linens for residents of the community.

Position Functions

• Cleans assigned resident rooms, bathroom and common areas daily while maintaining resident's privacy at all times. Employees must knock and announce before entering any resident room.
• Keep utlity and storage rooms in clean and orderly condition
• Sweeps and cleans rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture and draperies
• Posts signs indicating a safety hazard anytime housekeeping activities pose environmental hazards to staff, residents, visitors or others in the community.
• Dust furniture, handrails and equipment
• Washes windows, door panels and sills
• Empties wastebaskets and transports to disposal area
• Uses perosnal protective equipment when at risk of exposure to blood or other potentially hazardous body fluids and all the other times indicated by community policies and procedures
• Complies with all safety instructions and procedures when chemical substances. Refers to labels and material safety data sheets for instructions. Keep all chemicals and cleaning supplies in their orginal containers. Ask supervisor for assistance if unsure of proper handling techinques.
• Monitors and reports evidence of rodents or pests to supervisor
• Monitors workplace for safety and fire hazards and corrects or reports potential problems. Reports housekeeping/laundry and maintenance problems including equipment breakdown to immediate supervisor
• Secures housekeeping supplies in safe fashion
• Washes and folds resident laundry and linens
• Operates laundry equipment according to manufaturer's instructions
• Hangs, bags, folds, and bundle laundry/linens for delivery to resident knocking and announcing before entering residents rooms
• Maintains proper seperation between soiled and clean laundry
