Job description

JOB PURPOSE:

Performs laundering tasks to clean sheets, blankets, pillow coverings, and personal articles of patients. Loads articles into washers, adds detergents, operates dryers, sorts and folds laundry, and stores items appropriately.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Folds and sorts laundry, including blankets, sheets, towels, and personal clothing.
2. Hangs clothes on racks according to name and numbers.
3. Delivers laundry to designated areas.
4. Ensures clothes are in good condition and properly stored.
5. Understands functions of various cleaning agents.
6. Follows safety precautions as per MSDS guidelines for all chemicals.
7. Washes, dries, and maintains laundry equipment.
8. Maintains a clean and organized laundry area, including sweeping and mopping.
9. Reports equipment repairs to maintenance.
10. Operates filters and handles soiled laundry properly.
11. Cleans and disinfects linen carts as per policy.
12. Empties washers and dryers as needed.
13. Operates water, gas, and electric shutoff switches safely.
14. Applies stain removal techniques appropriately.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:

High School Degree preferred.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

On-the-job training provided.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Preferred):

Experience in healthcare laundering processes is a plus.
