Job summary

Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing is seeking a dedicated Laundry Aide to manage daily laundry operations, ensuring a steady linen supply and timely return of residents' clothing. This role supports resident care by maintaining clean, organized laundry areas and following facility standards under the direction of the Director of Housekeeping.

The position is full-time with day or evening shifts; a $1500 sign-on bonus is offered, and daily-pay options are available.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English clearly.
• Ability to follow written and oral cleaning instructions and methods.
• Physical ability to lift, push, pull and move linens and supplies over 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Sort soiled laundry and place in proper containers.
• Wash, dry and fold linens and garments per procedures.
• Distribute clean laundry to residents daily or as instructed.
• Keep laundry areas clean and sanitary and report equipment malfunctions.
• Coordinate daily laundry with nursing staff as needed.
• Maintain proper inventory and safety practices in the laundry room.

Laundry Aide

JOB SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this job is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations governing the facility, and as may be directed by the Administrator and/or the Director of Housekeeping, to assure that an adequate supply of linen is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents and their personal clothing is cleaned and returned to them in a neat and timely fashion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be able to read, write, and speak English in an understandable manner.
2. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions concerning the mixture of cleaning compounds, liquids, and laundry cleaning methods.
3. Must be able to lift, push, pull, move equipment, supplies, linens, etc in excess of fifty (50) pounds as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be physically and mentally capable of performing routine, repetitive job duties.
2. Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with residents, family members, visitors, and government agencies personnel.
3. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc. and maintain the appearance of laundry areas.
4. Be personable with residents, families, and staff in a professional and cooperative manner.
5. Must have compassion, tolerance, and understanding for the elderly.

MAIN DUTIES:

1. A. Support the facility’s philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives.
2. B. Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. and place in appropriate containers or assigned areas in the laundry room.
3. C. Sort soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. and separate those items that require special stain removal/treatment.
4. D. Wash and dry soiled laundry, linen, garments, etc. in accordance with established procedures.
5. E. Fold, count, stack, hang, and distribute clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. to residents daily, and/or as instructed.
6. F. Clean laundry room floors, to include sweeping, and damp/wet mopping.
7. G. Clean walls and ceilings of laundry rooms by washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing.
8. H. Remove dirt, dust, lint, grease, film, etc. from equipment and floor surfaces using proper cleaning/ disinfecting solutions.
9. I. During emergency conditions, assure that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc. are distributed to designated areas as instructed.
10. J. Turn in all unidentified laundry, linen, garments, etc. to the lost and found.
11. K. Discard waste/trash into proper containers in accordance with established sanitation procedures and reline trash receptacle with plastic liner.
12. L. Assure that work/assignment areas are clean and free of hazardous conditions, i.e. spills, excess laundry carts, baskets, supplies, etc. and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc. are properly stored while working, as well as before leaving such areas for breaks, meal times, and end of the work day.
13. M. Assure that established infection control and universal precaution practices are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
14. N. Use protective clothing/devices when performing tasks that involve the handling of infectious garments and linen and/or blood/body fluids.
15. O. Coordinate daily laundry services with the nursing staff when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
16. P. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and when using equipment and supplies.
17. Q. Assure that equipment is cleaned and prepared for the next shift.
18. R. Report all equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the supervisor as soon as possible and keep the supervisor informed of supply needs and equipment needing replacement.
19. S. Assure that work/cleaning schedules are followed.
20. T. Report all hazardous conditions or equipment to the supervisor.
21. U. Report all accidents/incidents to the housekeeping supervisor.
22. V. Maintain the confidentiality of resident information and honor his/her personal and property rights.
23. W. Attend housekeeping/laundry department meetings as directed.
24. X. Attend and participate in in-service educational classes and on-the-job training programs as scheduled or as directed.
25. Y. Turn in Days Off and payroll special request forms in a timely fashion.
26. Z. Follow established fire, disaster, safety, infection control and evacuation policies and procedures.
27. AA. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Housekeeping and the Administrator.
