Job description

The purpose of this position is to pick up, sort, launder, and redistribute personal laundry for assigned residents. This role ensures proper labeling and distribution of personal items to be laundered and dry cleaned by outside services, as well as the redistribution of such items.

1. Collect soiled resident clothing from resident rooms and utility rooms, and receive other items from nursing personnel for laundering.
2. Separate items to be laundered and dry-cleaned by outside services, checking clothing and marking with name tags as needed. Check returned laundry and distribute to residents.
3. Wash laundry at proper temperatures with appropriate detergents and chemicals. Operate washing machines and dryers.
4. Advise supervisor of worn-out or unusable items so families can be notified.
5. Launder specific items such as posies, sheepskins, light bedspreads, or other resident belongings as needed.
6. Sort and distribute laundered items to resident rooms and storage areas.
7. Collect soiled hand towels from resident rooms and distribute clean towels.
8. Inform supervisor of laundry supply needs.
9. Assist in distributing house linens from linen service as needed.
10. Be familiar with housekeeper duties to fill in if necessary.

Requirements:

1. High school education or equivalent.
2. Good interpersonal and communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
3. Previous housekeeping or laundry experience.
4. Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
5. Organizational skills to manage routine schedules and duties.
6. Ability to make independent decisions in the absence of a supervisor.
7. Interest in working with older adults.

Compensation Pay Range:

$15.00 - $17.11
