Job summary

Actalent is hiring a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer for a contract-to-hire role based in Troy, MI. On-site work supporting the setup, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes ahead of a major product launch, with a focus on equipment readiness and ramp-up.

You will lead cross-functional collaboration, drive continuous improvement, and oversee automation initiatives, including KUKA robotics integration, to ensure a smooth production ramp for vehicle programs.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of independent work in process engineering, machining, welding, and equipment installation.
• Hands-on experience in manufacturing launches, including equipment readiness, validation, and ramp-up.
• Strong experience in process development, continuous development, and efficiency optimization.
• Familiarity with equipment layout, production flow, and line balancing.
• Experience troubleshooting manufacturing issues on the floor, such as downtime, quality, and throughput.
• Exposure to automation systems, especially robotics and KUKA integration into production.
• Ability to lead problem-solving initiatives and drive corrective actions.
• Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive, problem-solving mindset.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with engineering, production, and leadership teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the setup, implementation, and optimization of manufacturing processes for product launch.
• Support integration and readiness of new production equipment.
• Drive efficiency across assembly operations and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
• Refine workflows to ensure optimal performance of all systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish manufacturing procedures and monitor system performance.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support automation efforts.
• Collaborate with equipment partners and ensure smooth production ramp for vehicle programs.
• Lead problem-solving initiatives and drive corrective actions.
• Support manufacturing launches, including equipment readiness, validation, and ramp-up.
