Rocket Lab USA in Littleton, CO is seeking a Flight Software Engineer I to join our Space Systems team. You’ll develop real-time software for on‑orbit testing, write device drivers for IMUs and star trackers, and contribute to CI testing and requirements validation.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's in aerospace/computer/electrical engineering or equivalent, strong C/C++ skills, and experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux. U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in aerospace, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience in embedded software development.
• Proficiency in C and C++ languages.
• Experience with RTOS or Embedded Linux.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Develop application software for RTOS/embedded Linux.
• Develop hardware drivers for IMUs, Star Trackers, Reaction Wheels and other spacecraft sensors and actuators.
• Create and maintain unit tests within a CI framework.
• Collaborate with hardware‑in‑the‑loop test engineers to verify and validate software/hardware functionality.
• Collaborate with systems/embedded engineers in developing, documenting and validating requirements.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure changes meet coding standards.
• Assist with on‑orbit flight operations.
