Job summary

Melling Tool Company in Jackson, MI is seeking a Program Buyer to lead purchasing for new product launches and customer programs. You will coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective sourcing that meets quality and performance goals.

The role requires strong negotiation, analytical, and project management skills, with experience in ERP/MRP systems and APQP processes.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in supply chain management or related field.
3–5+ years of purchasing, sourcing, or supply chain experience in automotive/manufacturing environments is preferred.
Strong negotiation, analytical and project management skills.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of automotive launch processes, APQP, and supplier development.

Responsibilities

Issue and analyze RFQs from approved suppliers to support customer requirements.
Negotiate price, terms, and payment for RFQs.
Procure required products using the APQP process.
Coordinate rapid prototype and production part sourcing for vehicle and retail programs.
Develop, maintain, and publish purchasing documentation per procedures.
Work with suppliers to drive cost reductions and build strategic partnerships.
