Job summary

Firefly Aerospace in the USA is seeking an experienced technical manager to lead propulsion, fluids, electrical, and mechanical engineers at Vandenberg SLC-2. You will oversee operation, upgrade and maintenance of launch pad systems and drive readiness for campaigns.

You will hire and train the operations engineering team, guide design reviews, and coordinate with partners to ensure regulatory compliance and mission success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or related field.
• 5+ years with fluids, pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical systems, tooling or test ops.
• 2+ years of managing personnel.
• Experience designing, building, or operating complex fluid or pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read engineering docs including P&ID schematics and test data.
• Capable of prioritizing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
• Self-motivated with initiative to keep systems functional and performing.

Responsibilities

• Lead operation, maintenance and testing of launch pad fluids and related systems.
• Facilitate hiring, training, and onboarding for the launch operations engineering team.
• Guide design reviews and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for system upgrades.
• Support system integrity testing and readiness for launch campaigns.
• Lead troubleshooting and investigations of issues during operations and testing.
• Perform launch console operations or launch day close-out activities.
• Write procedures for system operation, maintenance and vehicle testing.
• Develop maintenance strategies to maximize system availability.
• Collaborate with customers and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Provide technical write-ups for upgrade proposals.
