Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join the Launch Pad Engineering Team in Vandenberg to design, build, and operate launch pad fluid systems for Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy. You will lead technicians, troubleshoot complex systems, and drive continuous improvements across hardware, software, and procedures.

The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-functional teams, compliance with aerospace standards, and delivery of reliable, safe launch infrastructure in a high-pressure environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, chemical engineering or related field.
• 1+ years of professional experience with fluid, mechanical, or low voltage electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the responsible engineer for one or multiple launch pad fluid systems (compressible, incompressible, cryogenic).
• Troubleshoot issues using heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, instrumentation.
• Direct technicians to design, build, troubleshoot, maintain, upgrade, and operate pad systems.
• Contribute to functional automation improvements for the fluid systems.
• Identify upgrades to hardware, software, and procedures and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead the pad during design, construction, and activation phases.
• Present certification data to NASA, US Space Force and others.
