Job summary

SpaceX in Vandenberg is seeking a Launch Pad Engineer, Fluid Systems to own the design, build, and operation of pad fluid systems supporting Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy interfaces. You will lead technicians on pad campaigns to ensure timely installation and activation with safety and reliability in mind.

The role requires knowledge of heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, instrumentation, and practical CAD experience (SOLIDWORKS/Siemens NX).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, chemical engineering, physics, or other engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of professional experience with fluid, mechanical, or low voltage electrical systems.
• Experience with engineering standards and best practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the responsible engineer for one or multiple launch pad fluid systems including compressible, incompressible, and/or cryogenic fluid systems.
• Troubleshoot issues in launch pad systems using heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, controls, and instrumentation.
• Lead a technician workforce on pads during build campaigns for installation and activation.
• Contribute to development and improvement of functional automation for fluid systems.
• Identify upgrades to hardware, software, and procedures and drive continuous improvement.
• Lead the pad during design, construction, and activation phases.
• Present certification packages and engineering data to U.S. government agencies.
