Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking an IT Network Engineer II to join our launch IT team onsite at Wallops, VA. You will tackle day-to-day network issues, configure routers, switches, and firewalls, and support engineers across disciplines to keep launch operations running smoothly.

The role requires 6+ years of experience or a degree with 2+ years in network roles, expertise with Fortinet/Cisco/Juniper gear, and a proactive problem-solver mindset.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Hands-on deployment of networking hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Experience with Fortinet or Cisco/Juniper network equipment and basic monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of network security and architecture.

Responsibilities

• Resolve complex issues across network infrastructure, systems, and integrations.
• Provide guidance to ensure optimal performance and availability of core IT systems.
• Lead upgrade and maintenance initiatives with focus on reliability and security.
• Implement standards for deployment and management across Launch environments.
• Participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 Launch Mission Operations.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and optimize infrastructure solutions.
• Document environments and support; report usage and uptime metrics.
