Responsibilities

Launch Integration Specialist (LIS) provides mission management and integration support to the OSL mission team in all phases of planning and execution of satellite-to-launch vehicle integration for OSL assigned missions. The LIS provides the overall end-to-end mission integration planning coordination/support, integrated schedule development, Range coordination, readiness review preparation, technical procedure coordination, anomaly resolution, integration of mission requirements into government or commercial infrastructure, mission support, MAT Integration panel support and lessons learned adjudication.

LIS support responsibilities include program plan development and maintenance, including performing launch vehicle mission trade studies, mission analysis, the development of mission-specific requirements, and monitoring and verifying all launch vehicle and satellite vehicle interface requirements including satellite vehicle processing, transportation, and fueling requirements. LIS should possess an understanding of the SV and LV and associated contracts to support the entire life cycle of launch operations planning and execution. LIS support requires close coordination with the SV Program, LVC, OL, Range, and other associated contractors and organizations. LIS should be familiar with the scope, capabilities, and support coordination of various NRO, OSL, and external contracts for SV development, integration, and launch, including commercial launch services, LSIC, FFRDC, launch base/range support contractors, and OSL service/services contracts. A working knowledge of United States Space Force (USSF) National Security Space Launch (NSSL) launch services and launch vehicle architecture and components is required.

LIS Tasks Include
  • Provides space vehicle to launch vehicle integration, manifesting, and launch expertise
  • Provides Launch mission management process continuity across the Launch Enterprise
  • Supports Launch Mission Management interface with internal and external divisions, agencies, and contractors
  • Generates reports and presentations for meetings and other launch enterprise internal and external reviews
  • Manages coordination process for planning, requirements, and readiness meetings
  • Performs review of launch mission integration products, assuring quality, accuracy, and completeness
  • Assists in the development of launch and mission integration requirements in support of OSL CBJB and IPBS development
  • Attend Launch Scheduling/Manifest Meetings as required
  • Support each OSL launch campaign throughout the entire launch process, ensuring NOPS, Mission IT infrastructure, and services requirements are integrated, documented, and validated
  • Support development or update of mission documentation, identifying enterprise launch communications and service requirements
  • Interface with key mission personnel from NRO mission partners including launch vehicle contractors, satellite contractors, AF Program Offices, NASA, and other stakeholders
  • Provide insights on SV issues affecting LV/SV interface, LV hardware, or launch infrastructure
  • Provide Modeling and Simulation support, including developing scenarios and data analysis
  • Update and communicate OSL capabilities baseline, processes, and outreach efforts to support SV/LV integration
  • Develop schedules, manifests, and mission models, including multiple scenarios, impacts, and alternatives
  • Identify and support mitigation activities for mission integration risks
  • Provide early mission integration engagement to new and emerging programs, requiring security access as needed
  • Perform risk assessments of launch campaign elements, including LV/SV readiness, team performance, and readiness for launch activities
  • Qualifications
    LAUNCH INTEGRATION SPECIALIST, LEVEL I (LIS-I)

    This entry-level position requires a working knowledge of space launch systems and processes. Candidates must develop briefings for various audiences and can convey information clearly. Responsibilities include executing launch support activities. Candidates should possess the General Level II (G2) qualifications with 0 years of relevant experience.

    LAUNCH INTEGRATION SPECIALIST, LEVEL II (LIS-II)

    This intermediate role requires proven knowledge of space launch systems and processes, with at least 2 years of relevant experience. Candidates should have extensive knowledge of government space launch policy and procedures, experience leading SV/LV mission integration, and the ability to provide cross-program launch expertise. Desired qualifications include experience with NRO/OSL launch policies, and leading the SV/LV mission integration process across all phases.

    LAUNCH INTEGRATION SPECIALIST, LEVEL III (LIS-III)

    This senior role requires at least 5 years of relevant experience, with demonstrated ability to establish effective relationships, provide risk assessments, and have expert knowledge of SV/LV mission integration. Candidates should have extensive experience leading the entire mission integration process, providing cross-program expertise, and guiding Level I and II LISs. An active TS/SCI clearance with a CI polygraph is required.

    Compensation

    The pay range is $100,000 to $210,000 annually, depending on experience and other factors. MTSI offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance, 401k, bonuses, and more.
